*(Term used by the Regime to
classify Social Middle and High Class, connotation of rich, wealthy)
Minister for
Education, Hector Rodriguez, assured today that in the “campaign to eradicate
poverty” it is intended to establish social policies to drag citizens out of
that condition, with an exception: “we will not pull poor people from their
condition up to the point of social middle class and pretend to be ‘escualidos’
(rich, wealthy)”, said Rodriguez.
Rodriguez explained
that poverty is a problem “very complex and difficult to measure”. He indicated
that criminal violence is not directly associated to poverty. “There are places
of poverty where violence indicators are high, and others where life is
completely in peace”, he said during the High Standard Poverty Eradication
Workshop, in Caracas.
The Minister of
Education expressed that is needed to position moral values that allow us to
bring on peace. “We have to take advantage of this spreading (of violence) to
eradicate poverty and position these values that allow us to live in peace”.
He considers that, in
order to achieve a land of peace, it is a duty to guarantee the functioning of
all social policies.
As part of the
campaign launch, Rodriguez explained that together with INE (Instituto Nacional
de Estadisticas (Statistics National Institute), will measure families poverty
levels, not by income but by basic needs that are not met.
“Therefore we must
guarantee all preschoolers will be incorporated in the Educational system,
health primary assistance, healthy and well balanced edibles and productive
incursion (…) if we do not elevate the productive policy, and hardly will they
reach sustainability in the time we do all efforts”.
