Bodega Pago de Cirsus among the world's top 100 

The widely recognized in the region of Navarra , Spain, Pago Cirsus Winery has been classified by the World Association of Journalists and Writers of Wine and Spirits in the list of the top hundred in the world , ranking 99 with 162 points.
This position in the ranking since 2011, was reaffirmed in 2012 and 2013 with the development of new awards in different and worldwide prestigious events, in terms of tasting, such as the International Wine Challenge and Concours Mondal of Bruxelles.
Only two Spanish red wines entered this ranking compiled by journalists and writers in the world and both are from “tempranillo”. "Duron 2006" Alavesas Storage of Solar Group Samaniego, ranked 77th,  with 174 points; while "Pago De Cirsus 2005 Family Selection" of Iñaki Núñez winery, is located on the 99th, with 162 points .
Pago de Cirsus Winery aims to make a 100% wine top quality; this is done only with self payment vineyards of the winery. With yields around 4,000-4,500 kg per hectare on average, the output can reach 135 acres in a 607,500 kg of very good quality grapes to be allocated to reserves and Gran Reserva. Harvesting is done by hand. The grape selection is done carefully, first in the vineyard where green pruning and then tree table where only the best to reach the wooden vats for fermentation.
Tempranillo approximate 18 - acre Vintage from 20 to 30 September: the best varieties of strains that have proven over the years its perfect adaptation to cultivated land.
Cabernet Sauvignon 48 acres that are harvested in early October.
Merlot 44 acres that are harvested in early September.
Chardonnay 20 acres that are harvested in late August.
Fine grain Moscatel 5 ha that late harvested in late November for "late harvest ", a sweet fermented in barrel.
The farm production is around 4,000-4,500 kg of grapes per hectare, well below what makes the regulatory council to achieve wines of "very high quality". Part of the property is on a slope which is another important factor. The orientation of the vineyard is south to get the best ripening fruit of increased sun exposure.
The development in the cellar consists of white wines, red wines and sweet wine. The white wines are Chardonnay of the year, barrel fermented Chardonnay, late harvest MOSCATEL SWEET, SWEET MOSCATEL barrel fermented , varietal Tempranillo , MERLOT, CABERNET SAUVIGNON , MERLOT - TEMPRANILLO - CABERNET SAUVIGNON . These last three can be from 12 months to 18 months barrel being designed, the majority, "Reservas".
Low yields, assure us a good color, firm tannins to create a wine with body and powerful structure with the French oak barrels of the highest quality and longevity we elegant wine. The barrels we use are the best in the market.
Our stock of barrels is 80 % French oak and 20 % American oak of which 30% are of the Radoux coopers, Saury 30%, 20 % and 20 % Taransaud Demptos ensuring a superb wine aging. The average spent on them is 12 to 18 months depending on the grape variety.

Bodega Pago de Cirsus is the best winery of Navarra and rises as the cream of Spain. Their wines rank among the best in the world, in the most accredited winery events.

International Wine Challenge awards Silver Medal to 
Pago de Cirsus Chardonnay Barrica, 2012


The highly anticipated IWC 2014 Trophy and Great Value results are now live, and Bodega Pago de Cirsus is pleased to announce its satisfaction in the awards received, specially the Silver Medal Award for its wine Chardonnay Barrica, 2012.

The International Wine Challenge (IWC) owned by William Reed Business Media is now in its 31st year. The IWC is accepted as the world's finest and most meticulously judged wine competition which assesses every wine blind and judges each for its faithfulness to style, region and vintage. Throughout the rigorous judging processes, each medal-winning wine is tasted on three separate occasions by at least 10 different judges and awards include medals (Trophy, Gold, Silver, Bronze) and Commended and Great Value awards.

Other crops from the prestigious winery from Navarre, Spain that won the “Commended” recognition are Pago de Cirsus Chardonnay, 2013, Pago de Cirsus Vendimia Seleccionada, 2011, Pago de Cirsus Cuvée Especial, 2010 and Pago de Cirsus Opus 11, 2009, this one last wine already a winner at Concours Mondal de Bruxelles.

The International Wine Challenge is committed to rigorous and fair tasting and has subsequently earned its reputation as the most well-respected wine competition in the world. By hosting two separate tasting events across the year, wines are given the best chance to perform well, wherever they’re from.

The Champion Trophy, Winemakers of the Year and Merchants of the Year award winners will be revealed at this year's lavish IWC Awards Dinner on Wednesday 16 July 2014.

at Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2014

Opus 11 Selection, Tempranillo - Shiraz, 2009, is the wine that Winery Pago de Cirsus repeats for the second time the award "Grand Gold” at the 2014 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. This wine –due to its production methods, it is recognized for their outstanding quality.

The goal of the winery is to make 100 % high quality wine and this is done only with Pago de Cirsus vineyards of the winery itself. With yields around 4,000-4,500 kg per hectare, production can reach about 135 hectares in 607,500 kg of very good quality grapes, to be allocated to reserves and Gran Reserva. Harvesting is done by hand. The grape selection is done carefully.

The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles in May 2014 celebrated its 20 years of existence. Twenty years of evolution, discovery and relentless pursuit of quality wines worldwide. The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles’ main ambition and purpose is to provide consumers with a guarantee: to recognize and differentiate the wines of irreproachable quality, true pleasures of consumption and wine from around the world and in all price ranges.

Composed solely of wine professionals, the jury of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles brings together the cream of international experts. About 40 nationalities are represented in the tasting panel; diversity contributes to the uniqueness of the event. At the end of the contest, only wines and spirits with the best results wins awards.

But not only Opus 11, 2009 was awarded in this edition of Brussels. Special Cuvee 2010 also took the "Grand Gold” category, and crops Chardonnay FB 2012 and Chardonnay 2013, earned the “Oro" last May 2014.
